The ‘Start Here’ Development Pathway is structured to align with the Destination NSW ‘NSW First’ program. NSW First is a content-rich training program. Content is organised under the headings ‘Develop’, ‘Promote’, and ‘Sell’.  

Develop, Promote, Sell 

The develop, promote, sell framework guides you through the basic steps involved in setting up your business for success. The aim is to move through the logical phases of business development from getting started (Develop), effectively marketing your products to the right customers (Promote), to having an online sales platform that will allow you to ‘make money while you sleep’ (Sell).  

The Develop phase includes: 

• Ideation – This is where your business dreams become reality. This section asks the important questions associated with starting a business. Use this section as a litmus test to check if you’re ready to take the plunge. If yes, then move to the next step, Business Ready. 

• Business Ready – So you are confident you have a great idea for a tourism business. The ‘Business Ready’ section will ensure that you’re ready to operate a business that will be safe, compliant, profitable and efficient.  

The Promote section covers: 

• Tourism Ready – This section will help you connect your business with your customers and target markets. It will help you identify the correct marketing channels and access resources that will help you promote your business.  

The Sell sections covers: 

• Distribution Ready – Once you’ve set up your marketing channels, you’re ready to implement online sales channels that automate the sales process.
