Resources & Support

A wide range of industry bodies, marketing platforms, state programs, and specialist tools support the meetings and events sector.

This resource hub groups the most relevant contacts, programs, and guides for operators in Southern NSW.

Industry Bodies & Marketing Platforms

Business Events NSW (BENSW) – Destination NSW’s dedicated platform for promoting NSW venues and services to event planners. It provides a free listing service, planning tools, Requests for Proposal templates, and opportunities to participate in trade shows and showcases. For Southern NSW operators, BENSW is a direct channel to connect with buyers and raise visibility in the business events market.

Business Events Australia – Tourism Australia’s specialist unit for promoting Australia as a leading business events destination. It connects destinations and suppliers with organisers through international and domestic marketing campaigns, research programs, and incentive travel showcases. Operators can use Business Events Australia to position themselves globally and benefit from national promotional activity.

Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) – The peak industry body representing the Australian business events sector. ABEA provides advocacy, professional standards, research, and development opportunities. It unites operators, venues, and suppliers under one national voice, ensuring industry needs are represented to the government and stakeholders.

Destination NSW – Event Investment – Destination NSW invests in arts, cultural, lifestyle, and business events that deliver strong economic and strategic outcomes for NSW. Support is offered through an expression of interest process, with eligibility based on criteria such as tourism appeal, media value, and long-term legacy.

Get Connected (ATDW-Online) – A free program helping operators list their events and experiences on ATDW-Online, Australia’s national tourism database. Listings feed into Destination NSW’s consumer websites and partner platforms, significantly increasing visibility to audiences across NSW and beyond.

NSW Aboriginal Tourism Operators Council (NATOC)
The peak body supporting Aboriginal tourism operators in NSW. NATOC provides guidance on cultural protocols, connections to Indigenous operators, and opportunities to incorporate Aboriginal cultural experiences into events respectfully.

Local Councils
Councils are often the first point of contact for organisers planning community and business events. They provide permits, venue hire information, local supplier contacts, and sometimes funding or promotional support. Many councils also maintain regional event calendars to help with scheduling and maximising attendance.
