Southern Yarns | Yass

Calling all tourism and hospitality operators, industry association members, local council representatives, and anyone wanting to connect with the tourism industry.
We’d love you to join the Destination Southern Board and team for a relaxed evening that combines good conversation with practical information you can actually use in your business.
This session’s yarn: Demystifying AI – what tourism businesses need to know
The way visitors find and choose destinations and tourism experiences is changing. With so much information, platforms and advice out there, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. The good news is this isn’t about becoming an AI expert. It’s about understanding how visitors search now and making the right, practical tweaks to help maintain and grow your visibility. We’ll briefly explore what is changing, how it’s shaping customer behaviour, and what it means for your business. We’ll then point you to some of the most useful resources created by the tourism industry, for tourism businesses. There’ll be some short presentations around 5:15pm, but you’re welcome to drop in anytime you can throughout the evening.
The evening will include:
- A welcome from Kalina Koloff, NSW Small Business Commissioner and former Chair, Destination Southern
- An update from Rebecca Watson, Senior Destination Officer, Yass Valley Council
- A short presentation on this session’s yarn topic: Demystifying AI – what tourism businesses need to know
- The opportunity to ask the Destination Southern team and board questions and share any challenges you’re facing right now
- Time to share a drink and connect with industry colleagues over some nibbles
We encourage you to submit any questions in advance that you’d like added to the discussion.
