About Ian
Ian is a tourism and retail consultant with offices in London, Hong Kong and Bermagui where he and his partner Cornelia live with their dog Toby and own a retail fashion business.
He began his career in the UK working for what is now the TUI Travel Group, then spent a number of years working in the USA for Europcar. On moving back to the UK, he continued his career in tourism, however in 2008 was approached to work for one of the world’s leading operators of luxury outlet shopping malls, Value Retail, as Group Commercial Director.
After 6 years, he was seconded to China to help lead the development of two new outlet malls in Suzhou and Shanghai Disney. On completion and opening of both destinations, he left for Hong Kong and set up his own consultancy, Nelian.
Over the past 6 years, Nelian has worked for some of the most prestigious real estate developers in the world and also developed tourism strategies for destinations such as Ireland, Brunei, Panama and Knightsbridge in London to name just a few.
Currently, Ian is working on a number of new UK mixed-use developments including Battersea Power Station and has just completed an interim Commercial Director role for Harvey Nichols, a luxury department store group. The business has just started work on three new tourism destination projects in Saudi Arabia.
When not working he enjoys walking the dog, beach life in Bermagui, travelling and golf. He is also the current President of Bermagui Country Club.
