According to CPA Australia’s Disaster Recovery Toolkit, the following steps should be considered immediately following the bushfire.
- Overall damage assessment
- Contact your insurance company and discuss your damage assessment, level of covert and processing time
- Contact all staff and establish their position
- Contact key customers and suppliers and let them know about the situation
- Make a list of key equipment, stock and other activities
- If required, look for alternative temporary business premises
- Contact government agencies for support
- Review your business records
